I am a client oriented mediator. Instead of trying to adapt the parties to my style of mediation, which is the way many mediators operate, I work hard to provide the parties with the mediation process they need. I worked with Jay for my divorce mediation. He was amazing - really kind and smart and asked us questions we never would have thought of. Thanks to Jay, my ex-husband and I have an extremely detailed separation agreement that has supported us having an extremely amicable divorce and great experience for our children.

We had been in and out of mediation for years. We would get anxious about finances, mostly. Our first mediator retired and one fired us. Jay somehow eased our concerns and elicited our trust at the first meeting. Some of this is an acquired skill but the rest and probably the most important part of it is character. Jay maintains a calm presence in the sessions even (and this is important) when it was tense between us. And of course he knows his stuff which further contributed to a sense of safety as you navigate uncharted waters. We were stuck, and Jay got us moving again until we finished our process with good will to share. I recommend him highly.

Going onto the process I wasn’t sure it would work because my ex and I weren’t on the same page. Jay made the process easy for us and explained things in a professional manner when things were tense. In the end he was able to produce an agreement that worked for both of us and all of this was done on the phone. I recommend his services for anyone who needs help with a divorce.

I 100% reccomend Jay to anyone looking to have mediation done for their divorce. Jay was prompt in his response times professional and able to talk through processes and procedures with my soon-to-be-ex-husband and I. He is calm, clear, patient, and straightforward. It was a life-saver. He also promised to get our agreement written up by a Tuesday and had the draft finished and sent over by Monday, which was very nice.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Mediations are generally best served by an hourly rate. I try to keep my expenses lean to be able to offer a reasonable hourly rate.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I hold a pre-mediation call with the parties so they feel comfortable with me as their mediator. Then I ask them for a brief confidential mediation statement so I have a better understanding of their concerns and their desires.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a law degree, the basic 40 hour mediation training and advanced training on such topics as complex matters, divorce and family issues, drafting mediation memoranda, real estate and other issues.
