I contracted with Nick Proudfoot for the creation of an engagement ring. Nick patiently worked with me for over eight months from design to fabrication, and I was wowed when I received a gorgeous piece of art on which I clearly saw he . I was amazed at the caliber of his craftsmanship, and will be recommending his custom jewelry services to friends and family.Oct 6, 2015Verified
Nick Proudfoot did a wire wrapped boulder opal pendant for me. The work was exquisite! He completed the work in a timely fashion, was very pleasant and professional. I will definitely use Nick Proudfoot for future pendant wire wrap work for the horsehair jewelry that I make.Mar 5, 2013Verified
Nick worked with me to design a custom engagement ring, in which he reset a family ruby. From the get go, Nick was incredibly responsive and professional. I first went into a run-of-the-mill jewelry store downtown, and talking to the salesman was like talking to a robot... he basically told me I didn't want the custom design that I asked for, and provided an outrageous quote. My experience with Nick could not have been more different. Within a day, we had been back and forth several times, and quickly had a blueprint that fit my vision. His quote was also much more reasonable. He generously involved me in every decision throughout the process, and I felt as if he cared about the ring as much as I did. Though he usually requests more time to finish a custom project like this, he knew I had a proposal date in mind and expedited the process to get it done in time. It means so much to know that the piece of art on my fiance's hand is unique... and was crafted by a local, independent artist with a thoughtfulness and care that could have never come out of the cookie-cutter downtown jewelers. Proposing this weekend... wish me luck! All the best to you, Nick. Thanks a million.Feb 18, 2016Verified
Nick is an AMAZING Artist!! He is extremely creative and his jewelry is fantastic. I comissioned him to make a ring for my wife (who is very picky) with an opal I cut and polished. After seeing the finished product and her reaction, I had him make a pendant for my mom which she promptly loved. After seeing the craftsmanship of these pieces I had him make a pendant for me out of a huge freeform opal I made. I wear mine everyday as does my wife and we've never had an issue with anything. The materials he uses are top quality and the knowledge he has about the options a customer has are a couple reasons to use him. Nick is a very honest seller and he will NOT gouge a customer. The piece you ask for or have him choose for you, is the exact one you receive, no disappointments. Snyone with questions about nick can email me at email@example.comMar 19, 2012Verified
I'm very happy with my experience with Nick (Proud Designs Jewelry). I was hesitant at first because I had a complicated idea and I shouldn't have been. In the end, he suggested something that I loved so much and that's what we went with. Nick is very talented and has a TON of experience. I would easily trust him with something as important and personal as an engagement ring or wedding rings in the future.Feb 26, 2018
- What types of customers have you worked with?Custom work
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?A lady found a picture online of a ring that she wanted created but only had one blurry angle. From the picture she sent me, I was able to reverse engineer this ring and figure out how it was made. She wanted a special shank that we were unable to find, so I decided to hand forge, stamp and Chase a piece of sheet silver, then solder it together to create the one that she envisioned. After making the prongs, wrapping the ring and setting the stone. I oxidized the silver to give it the blackened effect that she wanted also. She was able to custom every aspect of this ring along the way and is very happy with it. Feel free to have your own custom ring or choose from a variety of rings I already have.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?Learning how to wire wrap is like riding a bike, when you learn it, you'll know how to do it for life. I teach one on one to ensure that I can invest 100% into teaching you every aspect of the art.
