Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Hello! I am an active vocalist and songwriter with a passion for vocal pedagogy and functional singing across various genres. I am trained within the styles of Opera/Classical music as well as Jazz. Beyond these genres, I have attended the CCM (Contemporary and Commercial Music) Institute at Shenandoah University where I furthered my education under the tutelage of Matthew Edwards and Dr Ysaye Barnwell of Sweet Honey and the Rock. I believe that each lesson is an opportunity for growth as well as discovery. I do not teach individuals how to sing, but rather, provide the tools for each student to mold their voice in a way that embodies their authentic sound. My clients include: Vocalists of all levels, Songwriters, Music Producers. My services include: Vocal Coaching, Vocal Production, Songwriting, Background Vocal Arrangement and Sonic Landscaping.

Kia is an amazing vocalist and educator. She really catered to what I wanted to get better at and each lesson felt like steps toward that goal. Highly recommend!!!

With every lesson and encounter I found a love of singing again. Kia’s experience/education shines through and her approach is direct yet compassionate. I feel more connected and confident in my instrument.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

First, there will be a consultation call for us to get to know one another better and for you to express what you are looking to achieve from your lessons. During this call, I will give an overview of my teaching philosophy, go over studio policies and provide space for any and all questions to be asked. If the client would like to move forward and schedule a lesson time, they will be sent a questionnaire to fill out before the first lesson. This questionnaire will be used to prepare for the first lesson and lay the foundation of the students lesson plan which will be expanded upon further after the first meeting.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have studied privately for 14 years as well as attended vocal training and pedagogy conferences. I am also an active performing vocalist and researcher of vocal techniques.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

As someone who has been singing for the majority of my life, I have always been drawn to the mechanics, ways to build a vocal vocabulary, and discover different ways to utilize the capabilities of one’s voice.
