FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer mediation services designed to help couples resolve family law disputes in a practical and cost-effective manner. My fees and arrangements depend on the nature and complexity of the issues involved. My goal is to make efficient use of mediation time, with preparation and organized sessions that focus on resolving the matters that need attention. I also offer discounts for military members and first responders. Please contact me to discuss your circumstances, fees, and any applicable discount.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin by gathering information about you, your spouse, and the issues you would like to resolve. Reviewing this information in advance helps us use our first session productively. During the initial appointment, I explain the mediation process, discuss your goals, identify the issues that need to be addressed, and establish a plan for proceeding. Sessions follow an agenda to keep discussions focused. Between sessions, you may be asked to gather financial information, consider proposals, or complete other tasks that help move the process forward. When agreements are reached, I can prepare a term sheet summarizing the agreed-upon terms or draft a separation agreement, depending on your needs and the circumstances.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my Juris Doctor from William & Mary Law School in 1992. Before law school, I worked for the United States Secret Service. My legal background includes extensive family law experience, along with training and experience in mediation and Collaborative Law. I have also held leadership positions in collaborative professional organizations and taught family law classes on Collaborative Law at the University of Maryland and the University of Baltimore.
