FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer both hourly rates and flat fees, depending on the type and complexity of the matter. My goal is to help clients resolve their legal issues as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. I focus on practical solutions and work to ensure that legal fees are spent addressing the issues that matter, rather than on unnecessary litigation or court filings. I also offer discounts for military members and first responders. During our initial consultation, we can discuss your needs, the available fee arrangements, and the approach that makes the most sense for your situation.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
begin by gathering information about your circumstances and reviewing it before our first meeting. This preparation allows us to use our time together productively and economically. I also encourage clients to look beyond the immediate crisis and consider what they want their lives to look like when the divorce or family law matter is resolved. Together, we identify your priorities, develop a plan to work toward your goals, and consider the best way to resolve the issues involved—whether through negotiation, mediation, Collaborative Law, or litigation.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my Juris Doctor from William & Mary Law School after working for the United States Secret Service. I have been practicing law since 1992 and am admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court and several federal courts. In addition to my legal education and courtroom experience, I have extensive training and experience in mediation and Collaborative Law. These skills allow me to help clients explore practical alternatives to litigation while remaining prepared to advocate for them in court when necessary.
