General Carpentry

These highly skilled artisans produced a window seat, a set of bookcases and wainscoting for my DC condo. As testament to their skill, they had a wait list when I deposited in early Summer. However it was absolutely worth the wait! They did phenomenal work and had pristine attention to detail with every piece they crafted for me. It has transformed my space and massively enhanced the atmosphere. I highly recommend BuilderChicks!

General Carpentry

Builder chicks did a phenomenal job building some work tables for my studio. They were done on time and very neatly. Great attention to details and functionality. I would definitely hire them again.

They worked with what I wanted, provided a contribution of the funds to charity and were willing to deliver the furniture 18 miles outside of town.

We could not be happier with the work from the Builder Chicks! Looking forward to using them for future projects. They are quick and the quality is next to none.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Our rate is adjusted depending on if it is general handywoman work, skilled carpentry, painting (we price by the square foot) etc.. We give 10% discounts off of labor to 501(c)3's, Military, and Teachers! We charge an additional 10% rush fee if the project is under time constraints that would require us to put in extra hours in a day or if the project would cause us to need to reorganize other already planned clients.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We usually ask that the client e-mails us a couple pictures of the project, styles, colors, materials etc.. that they like or don't like, along with any measurements. Once we have that information (usually we end up have a couple follow up questions), then we will send a quote. After the client has agreed to the pricing, we typically need a deposit to cover materials, and then we schedule the project. After the project is completed, we will send an invoice, and payment is due within 15 days.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Amy got a BA in Career and Technical Education, as well as became a journeyman electrician (although she is not currently licensed in DC). She taught woodshop, drafting, principles of technology, manufacturing, production, and construction.
