I’m a very unhappy with the person. He was great about calling me and getting my business. I will say that he is a very nice person. However, on thumbtack it states $60/service call. I was under the assumption he worked as an hourly handyman (as many do) because no estimate or invoice was as given before the projects were done. He hung 3 pendant lights (2 hours) and installed my nest thermostat (45 min and he had to Google instructions and then my furnace never turned back on after installation so I’m going to have to pay hundreds of dollars to fix this now, which was working perfectly before the thermostat was changed). When he was kind enough of come back that evening, he could not fix the issue he told us the price (minus the thermostat because it clearly was a failed mission and now I’m left with no heat in 30° weather). The price… $300 for 2 hours of work!!! He then stated he charges by the project and not hourly, again NOWHERE stated in his profile nor given before coming to the project. I said that Im not comfortable paying someone $150/hr that I wasn’t told up front (how do I know you didn’t just make up this price on the spot, it’s nowhere stated with pricing anywhere). I offered $200 which was more than fair considering what I was expecting, quoted from other professionals, and he basically broke my furnace and he wouldn’t budge. Partially it was my fault for assuming his profile was accurate but what made me the most upset is he said that when people don’t ask for a price he does not give one but then retracts and states he gives estimates before project (again, which I never received). This is a poor way to do business and I would never hire again if someone is not upfront and seems to be deceiving to customers.

Cyrs, It is unfortunate you feel that way due to miscommunication. As you stated you made an assumption in the beginning. Moving forward, It is a lesson as a customer to always ask for a quote first and me being a service provider to ask a customer if a quote is needed to prevent this moving forward. As stated in our text messages that you all had another handyman there to provide painting and he touched your thermostat, cut wires, and cut on an emergency heat pump. Which could have caused the furnace malfunction. I stated in the messages that I would come back to diagnose the theramost to make sure it was compatible which could have result in the issue of no heat. I didnt charge for the thermastat installation because the job wasn’t completed. I also renegotiated my price for your lighting installation due to the pricing misunderstanding. My business and profile is accurate and I make it a priority to provide the best customer service. I do service calls for $60 yes but I also have it stated on my profile that I charge by project. The result of the pendant lights came out great, you have been refunded your $250 and I hope your issue gets resolved with your theramost. Have a great day!

I do require deposit before any work is rendered. My prices vary according to what items your getting installed but I do give discounts when customers combine different items for one job.

Find out what they need for the process. Find out their preferences for the job im completing. Then I find the best price and items to fit the situation for both me and the customer
