Introduction: I began taking drum lessons at the young age of five. Because of my lengthy background with a variety of drum instructors, I was primed to start teaching my own drum lessons privately at the age of fifteen. I believe in setting a firm foundation with my students, and I provide my own customized lesson plans to individually cater to each student. Some of these foundations and techniques include rudiments, reading sheet music, timekeeping, and “playing to the song”. Currently, I also record drum tracks for hire and preform with Dale and the ZDubs, KleptoRadio, and other established bands in the greater DC area.

I am over 30 years old and went to Miles with zero musical knowledge let alone any experience playing the drums. Miles reaches that perfect balance of being patient and pushing me to learn more. He has introduced information to me at a rate that is appropriate and takes the time to work through the musical concepts with me. At the same time he knows when to push forward with more challenging aspects of playing the drums to get the most out of our lessons. Miles is clearly very knowledgeable and talented and I recommend him highly if you are looking for drum lessons.

I have a 6 year old son who expressed interest in drumming. Miles was the first to respond, we chatted the same day and were able to start the following week. My son loves coming to Miles’ studio. He is a very shy kid but Miles found a way to connect with him right away. We just started and this has been very positive. We even have drumming homework!
