What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I usually charge $100/hour lesson, but will negotiate a consistent price if needed, in order to keep ongoing lessons in place.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I evaluate the student's level of capability thus far, examine theory and ear training knowledge, and discuss their interests in music with them. Then, I would make certain recommendations for repertoire and study of music theory and would begin filling in gaps in knowledge. Would also encourage playing something that will help the student's technical proficiency grow.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, Composition and Performance from UMA in Augusta. I also have an Associate's Degree from Holyoke Community College and studied with Kenny Barron and Joanne Brakeen at The Mannes School of Jazz in NYC.
