Not many carpenters show up when you want a wrap -around deck at your summer cottage using a wood hard -as -iron called Ipe . No staining or repair needed for like 50 years. Easy for you; impossible for most carpenters. Every board has to be buttoned to the next using special drill equipment - in this case along boards stretching 10 x 25 in one direction then 5 x 25 in the next. Lots of drilling; lots of buttons. Furlong took this on late fall/ early winter, freezing temperatures, fierce winds off the ocean, the usual shipment problems yet finished the job on time. The deck is spectacular and maintenance free. (Indoors to warm up, he re-installed a folding door in the cottage that was slipping off its track. No charge.) If you need detailed perfection Darrin Furlongs your guy: the possible and impossible no problem.

Over the last couple of years, Darrin has done several remodeling jobs for us on our older home. He did a lot of structural work in the basement, rebuilt walls,and strengthened floors. He also put in new construction windows, rebuilt the mud room, and put on new vinyl siding. Darrin worked hard to keep costs within our budget, and it all turned out even better than I envisioned it. Looking forward to him coming back next year to redo our bathroom!

Working with Darrin was a very positve experience. He remodeled my 1821 era farm house that needed everything from new 8"x10" 20' plus beams and a full kitchen remodel that took my house from a non-functioning kitchen (that was a converted attached horse stall) into a beautiful 21st century kitchen but was able to make it "blend" with the rest of house by utilizing rough cut lumber and making his own hand-hewn beams. I wish I could post pics as I can't put into words what the difference was of the before and after pictures. Will definitely use again!!!

Darrin has done many small projects for me! He has built me shelves and decorative wall hangings and wood burn carvings of wild animals and has also completed a coffee table. He spend many hours getting a poker table top with wood burned royal straight flush along all sides. It was truly amazing! Wish I can show you all the detailed hand crafted projects he has completed over the years in his spare time...with idle hands! There is nothing he can't do with all his Master Carpentry knowledge from homes to homemade hand crafted cribbage boards!
