Introduction: My services are flexible. Contact me to discuss what would work best for you and your child. I am a full-time mom and understand the complexities of schedules. I look forward to working with you to develop a plan that would help you and your child to attain the best communication possible.
I use flash cards, toys, and visual prompts. I have found that using hands on movements with the child helps them learn quicker than receptive instruction. Ive been told that I have a way with children.
I do know that I love children and find great joy in helping them learn. From my youngest days as a babysitter to my current days as a mom, I have found children to be the highlight of my life.
I also welcome adults and couples who strive to want to learn ASL for the purpose of trying to communicate with their children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Sometimes its just simply wanting to learn the language for your own purpose. I strive to make it a fun learning experience. I look forward to working with you!

Helene is the perfect ASL tutor for our daughter, who is 9. She is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about teaching ASL to a hearing child with an intense interest in learning the language. Helene understands and connects with our daughter, tailoring the lessons to her specific age, learning style and personal interests. She is also extremely flexible schedule-wise, which we appreciate.

Helene is a kind and very knowledgable teacher. She used casual conversation, news articles, and my interests to quickly build my vocabulary. Helene has flexible hours and a very reasonable rate. She is fluent in ASL but is also able to communicate in spoken English. Most of all, she is fun to be with and an outstanding teacher.

Helene tutored me in ASL for a year and a half. She was very patient and helpful, and I learned not only a lot of vocabulary but got tons of practice in conversation and also learned a great deal about deaf culture. Highly recommended!

The most important thing when you're learning something new is to have a knowledgeable teacher and to feel comfortable. I got both from Helene and I've remained passionate about ASL ever since!
