Introduction

I have worked as a freelance writer, copywriter, editor, and proofreader for over 15 years. I specialize in working with business and life coaches who want to write a book to build their coaching businesses, but I will tackle just about any non-fiction writing, editing, or proofreading project there is! Before I became a freelancer, I worked for a marketing services agency as a copywriter and then for a publishing house first as an editorial assistant, then as the Editorial Manager, and finally as the Editor-in-Chief. So I have a great deal of professional experience. My goal as a writer, copywriter, editor, and proofreader is simple: Deliver the best service I possibly can in a reasonable amount of time for a fair price. What I don't do: fiction, grants, academic term papers or dissertations, technical writing I am passionate about the power of words. As the British playwright, Tom Stoppard, said, "If you get the right words in the right order, you can nudge the world a little." I am all about nudging the world a little on behalf of my clients!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing depends on the scope of the project. Almost always I charge a flat fee rather than by the hour so that neither my customer nor I need to listen to the money clock ticking all the time in the background. All invoicing is done through PayPal, and I require a 50% deposit up front as a retainer with no exceptions. The balance is payable immediately upon completion of the project. Depending on the scope of the project, installment payments may be required.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My process varies depending on the needs of the customer and the scope of the project. But I will always start by asking my customer a series of questions that are designed to give both of us crystal clear clarity about the parameters and details of the project as well as the goals the customer has for the project. I'm a big believer in customer service and communication. I respond to email and phone messages promptly, and my goal is to pleasantly surprise every single one of my customers with the level of service they receive from me.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got started writing and copywriting when I went to work for a marketing services agency. I got started editing and proofreading when I went to work for a publishing house.
