FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The rate I quote is pretty fair for the level of instruction I can provide. I'm an effective teacher and many of my students remain playing throughout school, some throughout college in programs for music education.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we talk about what you're looking to achieve. Instrument, style, genre, etc. After that, we schedule our first lesson. Typically I travel to you or provide a remote lesson by webcam, if needed. The first lesson is getting to know each other while we run through some basic rudiments. Typically we'll do this on a practice pad to start. It's pretty easy to get exhausted during the first lesson just playing boring stuff slowly. That's why the half of the lesson or so is going over basic beat structure, usually referencing a song the student likes. Then we talk about what to practice and pick up from there the following week.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been playing drums since I was 7 years old and I have many years of professional, formal training from several different instructors. I've learned numerous styles and can teach them all effectively to any type of student. I've taught young children just starting out, retired seniors that have been jamming in bands most of their lives, and even students with special needs that take a little extra care.
