I hired Pat for a few jobs. He built a beautiful library for me with a movable ladder and redid the whole kitchen. He also transformed my carpeted stairs into wood ones with custom made cherry treads. I'm very impressed with Pat's creativity and can-do attitude. A great experience. I highly recommend.

Based on Thumbtack reviews I hired Pat Kuehlewind to work on a renovation project on my 1941 home and am very pleased that I did. The first phase of the project scope included removing built-in shelving and repairing a window frame, altering a wood fireplace surround to achieve a contemporary style, removing carpets and carpet tack/ staples in readiness for floor refinishing, removing a dividing wall in the foyer to open it up and plastering in readiness for painting, removing base board and crown molding, removing wall paper, and updating light switches and sockets. Pat has a lot of experience in the carpentry and home improvement business and it shows. He is also very personable and I've really appreciated all Pat's advice during the 9 days he and his team worked on my house. Pat and his team have a great work ethic - they work until the job is done and clean up after themselves. I was working to a tight schedule to have the work finished and Pat and his team even agreed to work over the Labor Day weekend to make ensure we met the deadline which was hugely appreciated. Pat will be back to do the second phase of my renovation project to install new baseboard and crown molding, a TV mount - and I've already got a list of other home improvements I'm going to entrust to him. I can highly recommend Pat if you are looking for an experienced professional.

Excellent work I will use Pat at Classic Carpentry again and highly recommend him to my friends. I had a glass tub enclosure installed, 2 Glass storm doors installed a front door and back door, trim work done, floor work, and a ceiling beam attached. His craftsmanship is awesome, Very reliable and affordable. He has a customer for life.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
No 2 jobs are alike, pricing consists of a multitude of factors. From degree of difficulty, distance, exterior/interior & time frame. Generally the client provides all materials needed from shims to caulk. Client is paying for a on site skilled trade. However I can provide any and all materials. Expect an additional pick-up & delivery charge is. When I purchase materials, payment for said items is to be made upon delivery.
I rather do jobs by the job, but that's not always an option. I'm fully aware of current installation costs of the big box stores IE; Home Depot, Lowes & Menards.
I have done their installs for them in the past and present.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The majority of my work comes from referrals, so this (THUMBTACK) is some what new to me.
My current clients/referral's and I have built a mutual trust so getting paid for materials and job are never questioned.
Never assume that the big picture, is the same as the clients, always break down the job, step by step if necessary.
Never forget who is the boss. Learn something new everyday and help the client understand the procedures as you go. Engage the customers preferences and respect the opinion of both parties. Inform the client of any unforeseen issues involving current project or any under lying issues that could effect the home in the future.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
While in high school I took 4 years of industrial arts, after that I continued my education thru Genesee Area Skilled Trade school, covering building trades, welding, machine set-up, millwrights to auto mechanics etc.... I wanted to be as diversified as possible. Served as a combat construction engineer, while serving in the Army. Ran a framing crew for several General Contractors. Self taught all aspects of the trades one encounters. High end trim/finish carpentry, worked with multiple Interior designers thru out the Oakland county area..
