FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes. I have completed all 7 volumes of Suzuki Piano School training endorsed by the Suzuki Association of America and taught by certified teacher trainers. I studied with the founder of the Suzuki Piano Method, Haruko Kataoka. I took the new Suzuki Principles in Action course. Along with other Michigan teachers, in my class was the late John Kendall, pioneer who brought the Suzuki movement to the US and Armena Marderosian who also studied with Kataoka and Suzuki in Japan. I also recently had the rare opportunity to study the new piano repertoire with Mary Craig Powell. She is responsible for much of new piano repertoire in the New International Editions. I am an avid reader of the Suzuki Journal, brimming with new teaching ideas. I hold membership in the Piano Teacher's Forum of Grand Rapids where I have the opportunity to learn through workshops and many informative guest lectures. I attend piano master classes observing leading American teachers show by example some of todays best teaching. I participate in these workshops, also, as a teacher. I also participate in online discussion of studio polices, special student needs, latest materials, sharpening relationship skills.

- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When you have decided that you would like your child to learn piano using the Suzuki Method, the next important decision is choosing a teacher to work with your child. Since this relationship can be a long-lasting one with a great impact on your whole familys musical experience, you will want to do this carefully. As a member of the Suzuki Association I am dedicated to the principles of the Suzuki Method and to my own continued professional development through SAA training. Since you will need to choose the best teacher for your child, I encourage you to observe lessons and other recitals before beginning study.
