Haverhill farms is great! My 7 daughter had expressed interest in riding and my 4 year old son wanted to try as well. He has some sensory issues, so we thought riding would be good for him. After calling around, Haverhill was the best choice; not only were they in a great location, but very flexible with riding options; days and times. Tara was very responsive to all my questions prior to our lesson and when we arrived to he farm everyone was very friendly. We were told to walk around and explore the farm and the kids loved seeing all the horses. When it was time for the lesson to begin, we were greeted by Alex and the kids were immediately into what she was saying. She explained everything to them at their level and the kids had a great first impression. They loved getting their pony’s, walking them, brushing them, and learning how to get the saddle on. They then got to ride; starting with the basics and learning how to use the reigns. We left with My daughter asking when we can go back and ride “sassy” again! Highly recommend this place!

Kay worked with my three daughters, ages 4, 6, and 9 years. We arranged an introductory horse lesson that would cover basic grooming and 30 minutes of riding for each child. I was impressed with her ability to tailor each lesson according to the interest and ability of the individual child. I believe Kay is an educator at heart. She kept the kids engaged in their lesson by asking questions while providing guidance and instruction. We have only one prior experience with horses and instruction at a different stable and comparatively Kay is superior. All of my children want more lessons from Kay.

I have taken lessons from Jan and boarded horses at her facilities for about 16 years. I stay because the lessons are great and the care the horses receive is superb. Stalls are cleaned properly, they get ALOT of good quality hay; they are pampered and and happy. Her indoor arena is big, with excellent footing. There is an outdoor sand arena as well as hay fields to ride around in. For me, the location is also important. It is close enough to town that I can get out there often. Also, the other riders and horse owners there are friendly...and Jan is great!

Been leasing with the people here for a couple of years now. Management is open, approachable, knowledgeable and professional. This barn has provided an excellent avenue to my teenage daughter for improving horsemanship, learning and implementing natural training methods and spending lots of time learning all the care that these animals require. More like extended family than just a boarding/training facility. Lessons on sound horses are excellent for the beginner rider, and leasing offers options for those with more experience who can ride without a trainer present which really increases rider performance and ability. I can't say enough about this barn. Come see for yourself! :)

I have enjoyed teaching beginner-intermediate riders, youth and adults for over 25 years. I have been a 4-H leader for 21 years, coaching many kids with backyard horses to top riders and competitors. My specialties are horsemanship and horse ownership 101, almost all western events, barrel racing, pole bending, working cow horse, versatility ranch horse, and trail riding. I also teach English equitation 101. I enjoy working with children. My background screening is done annually by several organizations I volunteer through. I look forward to meeting with you and helping you achieve your goals.

Fun, educational, affordable, and safe! We offer horseback riding lessons for first time riders through advanced riders in English, Western, and most advanced disciplines. We also provide indoor and outdoor arenas, great horses and ponies, and showing opportunities for riders who want to compete. A knowledgeable, experienced, and patient instructor tailors all programs to the individual to ensure complete client safety and satisfaction. Haul-ins are always welcome and traveling lessons or training (taught at your property) are also available to selected areas. Horse training from starting/breaking to show finishing for most disciplines are offered, as well as professional show riding. Call or email anytime to discuss your personal goals and desires!

It is very difficult to find a classical instructor in Michigan. I studied in Maryland with Kathleen Harjess and Erik Herbermann. As competition dressage gains popularity, so do training shortcuts that are supposed to help the horse and rider get further faster but instead can cause serious damage to the horse and are not applicable in other contexts. Most instructors teach you how to ride their horses for their discipline. This can still be a wonderful experience for many students and enables them to build confidence- but it is not always safe for the rider and is infrequently safe for the horse's long-term health. I train riders to communicate to the horse and then allow the horse to respond in such a way that it encourages the horses to give a different level of performance to their riders. The horses become willing participants and even the crankiest old horse when ridden correctly will find a bounce in his step that was never there before.

I provide basic horse lessons and not just riding lessons. I also educate my students on horsemanship. I also provide pony parties for birthdays, etc.

I teach beginners from English lessons to advanced jumping and cross country. I specialize in problem and young horses. I ride dressage, which is the basis of all riding. I have also ridden western dressage and have some formal training in it. I have trained under Dorothy Mueller for the last 11 years and under Debbie Pace as a young teen. I started jumping at 7 and ride 7 days a week. I am soft spoken and very quiet when I ride as well. I enjoy a challenge, as most horses who misbehave do so because of poor training. I take my time and give the horse and rider an understanding of what we are working for.
