Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I use my 10 years of experience as a police officer and prior experience as an assistant prosecuting attorney to the advantage of my clients by identifying and attacking the legal, factual, or practical deficiencies that exist in ALL cases. I have represented people charged with anything from assault to murder. I served 5 years in the Marine Corps, including a tour in Iraq. I have experience working at the state legislature and the governor's office. I also worked for a state circuit court judge as well as two federal judges on at the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. As a prosecutor, I’ve handled cases of various complexity from OWI to criminal sexual conduct to complex multimillion dollar fraud cases. I have been interviewed by local and national media about topics including Michigan's child protective services policy and practice and a veteran's perspective and reflection 9/11. I also appeared on The Real and Fox and Friends and was featured on CNN, NBC Nightly News, HLN, and other news outlets around the world. I know the ins and outs of how police officers do their job, what they should do, how they should do it, and what they shouldn't do. I know what happens behind the scenes. I know how to get information that others don't. I know what the prosecutor is looking for, I know the angel the prosecutor uses, and I can identify weaknesses in their case and discuss it with them (which is something many attorneys don't do) to achieve a favorable outcome for my client. **FEES** Due to the large number of requests for payments, I’m putting this up here for clarity: I do not begin work until the fee is paid up front and in full. This is the same for 99.9% of attorneys. I do not accept payments for the up-front fee. The reason is simple: I have before and got burned.

I had questions that he was able to answer and seemed very competent. I don’t have the money at this time to hire an attorney, but I will be hiring him as soon as I do.

Our community was struggeling with a conflict of interest - ethical concern regarding a local elected official. We sought a well respected attorney - law firm to provide a legal opinion as soon as possible. Attorney Benjamin Hall was extremely responsive, thoughoroughly professional, and exceeded all expectations by a wide margin. Within a weeks time we received an 8-page assessment of the specifics, and a definative legal opinion based on over ten legal opinions issued by the Michigan Bar Association. We cannot say enough nice things about Attorney Hall and the firm's Comptroller.

Mr. Hall was a huge help. Being a former police officer and a former prosecutor was evident in his knowledge of both traffic and criminal laws. Even when I was willing to accept an initial plea deal, he know that there was so little evidence against me that we should counter the offer. I went from a potential criminal case to just a fine and 0 points.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We charge $350 per hour for all cases. All cases require a retainer paid up front. The amount depends on the details of the case, but is no less than $5,000 for misdemeanors and $10,000 for felonies. If you would like an in-person or virtual consultation, I charge $500 for a 1-hour consultation regarding your case. Prior to the consultation, you can send me the police report to review and I will provide my legal opinion and overall strategy during the consultation. The consultation fee must be made in advance. If you decide to retain me, the fee is applied to the retainer fee. I do offer discounts for veterans.
