FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My standard rate for counseling is currently $95 but if health insurance is being used then cost will depend on your insurance benefits. I do also offer a sliding fee scale, based on ability to pay, when insurance benefits are not being used.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
At initial contact there is usually basic discussion of issues the client wants to work on or goals to accomplish, I answer any questions about my services and the intake appointment is scheduled. I like to e-mail the intake paperwork for clients to fill out ahead of time to bring to the intake appointment. In the first session we explore the client's needs and goals, get to know each other and get comfortable working together, and I try to offer some coping skills for the client to try or short-term goal to work on before the next session.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Massachusetts-Boston. I then completed two years of clinical supervision while practicing as a counselor and passed the licensure test to be credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan. I complete various continuing education credits yearly to expand my knowledge and skills including multiple treatment approaches and theories and presenting needs such as depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, ADHD, life dissatisfaction, goal formation and productivity.
