I have over 20 years plus of teaching swimming lessons in private homes, condo facilities and public pools. I want the water to be safe and fun for all swimmers. Safety being a big issue for many parents that have pools. I have a unique way of getting adults and children to learn stroke development and the fundamentals of swimming. I want students to feel confident in the water and to be able to show their skills. I'm a certified Lifeguard and WSI/CPR certified. I'm also a Physical Education teacher and certified Special Education teacher. I have worked with a variety of children and adults and many different skills levels.

I had never used thumbtack before, but when looking to hire a personal swim instructor it seemed like the right place to search. Once I read Erin’s bio, I knew she would be a perfect fit working with my 25 year old girlfriend to become a stronger swimmer! This was my girlfriends Christmas gift to get swim lessons to prepare for a trip to snorkel in the Caribbean. Erin is a school teacher, has daughters and plenty years of experience teaching young and old, so I felt her and my girlfriend would connect super well. We had our ups and downs with locating a consistent pool to use over the winter months, but Erin was extremely flexible and accommodating. Without going through this process before, it couldn’t have worked out any better than it did and I’m truly thankful of Erin’s professionalism, diversified training techniques, patience, willingness to have fun and love of people! Ms. Erin has been a wonderful swim instructor for my three children. They greatly look forward to their weekly swim lessons. Our daughter’s confidence and technical swim skills have skyrocketed since she started working with Ms. Erin. Our eldest son’s technical skills continue to improve and he is learning how to dive, something he would not have learned taking lessons at our local swim facility. My youngest son, who is 4, is already swimming and beginning to do the backstroke after only 9 lessons. My kids love working with Ms. Erin because she is knowledgeable, fun, encouraging and patient. They have had many swim instructors and Ms. Erin is, hands-down, the best!

Erin is literally THE BEST swim teacher my kids have ever had! I have 5 kids (ages 4 to 13) and we have tried multiple teachers over the years. My 9-year-old was the toughest, as she was petrified of water and wouldn't even get her face wet! Erin's kind, gentle, encouraging and confidence-building nature has her swimming like a champ now, and all of my other kids as well!!! You won't regret using her and I'm excited to book her for more swim lessons next summer! THANK YOU THANK ERIN!!! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically charge 20 dollars per half and hour lesson. However, with multiple lessons and longer lessons I will work with the customer to give the best possible price.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I work with a new client, I want them to feel comfortable with me in the water and out of the water. I always want to know parents and swimmers specific goals. Swimming is a life skill and each swimmer has different objectives and it is important to reach those objectives.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a Physical Education teacher in the Walled Lake School system for 21 years. I have my state teaching licence in education and my masters in special education. I'm lifeguard/CPR/WSI and first aid trained. I have worked with many different levels and abilities in and out of the pool. I'm very patient. Being a certified teacher I tend to approach my lessons from a teaching perspective and not a coaching framework. Lesson planning and working around different skill levels is something I have been doing in a variety activities. I'm also a mom of 3 daughters who all swim and love swimming.
