FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We offer hourly/daily handyman work, as well as estimates for jobs that last more than 3 days. If providing an estimate, we do charge an estimate fee, which covers our costs of travel, as well as the extensive effort, time and detail that we put into our estimates. We appreciate our customers, and to demonstrate our appreciation: if a potential client chooses to accept our estimate, they will be refunded any Estimate Fees they paid associated with the job. The refunded amount will be given as deduction from the total cost of the job. It will be shown as a discount or prepayment on the estimate.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If the work is hourly or daily, I arrange a scheduled day with the customer to complete the work. If the project will take more than 3 days, I usually provide an estimate. We charge a small fee to ensure our time/expense associated with the estimate receive a minor reimbursement in case a potential customer is not committed to the project. Estimates involve traveling (sometimes hours) to the potential customer's house to discuss details and take measurements (15-45 min). Then we spend many hours gathering prices, finding and comparing products, calculating the labor hours for each step of the project and typing up a detailed breakdown of costs. Then we type up a contract for the customer to sign. Depending on the size of the project, this might involve calculating appropriate completion dates/amounts for installment payments. Once we are ready to sign the contract, we come up with a start date. Customers who sign the contract and hire us, will have their estimate fee reimbursed and applied/discounted from their total bill. We appreciate our customers and demonstrate this by waiving the estimate fee. Once the work begins, we update our customers on any changes that come up during the process.
