FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
What I can do for you when the others have told you it can't be done doesn't have a "canned" price. Sometimes it's easy and what you recover is priceless. The same, priceless, data can be hard to recover and take a long time. I'll travel to your location within the area I have listed, (a couple of miles extra is ok), for $50 to look at your problem. Then I can assess the problem and we can work from there. I'll always tell you up front whether I think it can be done. If I don't think it can be done I'll tell you and you'll only be charged the $50 which is a lot less than services like the Geek Squad, who fail as often as they succeed. When I leave you'll either know it really can't be done cost effectively or you'll have a very reasonable price to work with.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
You need to be really clear about your problem for me to be able to give you a quote. It's very hard to determine your problem and the potential for me to be able to help you if you aren't _very_ clear about your issue. I will come to your location and assess the problem if it's necessary. Simple replacement of parts is easy. If it's other than that then only having had hands on experience with your issue can I properly determine what the problem is. Some problems simply aren't fixable or fixable in a cost effective manner but I will be able to tell you what options you have even if that might be to buy a new computer. I will give you my opinion of what it will cost to address your issue which will generally be a fraction of what others would charge you for the same results and it is up to you if you want me to complete the task(s) required.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As of 2016 I have been working, playing with and enjoying computers for 35 years. For 25 years I was a manager of the computer systems for a non-profit organization and built the organization from a small network in a single location to a Wide Area Network comprising of thirteen locations in the Tri-County area that were all interconnected with up to 750 users, In the last 25 years I have seen and dealt with almost anything the computer world, both big and small, can throw at you. Data recovery is where I excel, but I can do almost anything you might need. Most of my customers have been told by one or more entities that their computer or data is unrecoverable. It has been my experience over almost thirty years of professional network and computer management that around 90% of drives are quite easily and cost effectively recoverable. Slow computers and viruses can also often be addressed with the appropriate tools and know-how, I met my first virus, (Stoned), in 1991 and manually removed it which is the hard way to do it but there were very few anti-virus programs available and very effective at the time. I have recovered drives that other entities think are a write-off and removed the most insidious of Malware from countless drives. Give me your hard drive and I'll tell you if I can help... If I can't there will be no further charge. If you have network or router problems I'll fix them for you too.
