FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I use an excel spreadsheet to list the components of each project, and the price per square foot and total are displayed at the bottom. This keeps my bidding consistent, and prevents me from leaving any key information out of the calculations. The industry standard for the cost-per-square-foot ranges from $65.00 to $135.00 based on many variables. These could include whether a back splash, embedded glass, fiber optics, custom colors, hand-painted objects, additional stains, or other design characteristics are desired.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I subscribe to two different professional web sites, which provide tutorials and webinars about new techniques and materials.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Having been in remodeling for years, I was approached by two couples, and asked if I could do concrete counter tops. I admitted at that time that I never had created one, but would research the process, and we could discuss the possibility. After researching, making samples, and discussing the results they wanted, they asked me to do the vanity tops for their bathrooms. They were delighted, and I proceeded to complete four professional training programs and make many samples to become proficient at creating concrete counter tops.
