Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: At Hamilton Hardwood our performance does not stand out, it stands alone! We use hepa-filtered, top of the line equipment that leaves your home virtually dustless while we work, and we prefer water-based finish to oil-based for their low VOCs and child/pet friendliness. Further, we prefer the highest grade lumber, stain and finish available for their quality and durability. (This is where other companies maximize their profitability.) We are willing to dig into our own pockets to provide an end result we can stand by. Lastly, our eye for detail and the pride we take in our work will speak for itself. The combination of lumber, stains, and finishes are virtually infinite. Each job is unique to the buyer's preferences and we thoroughly enjoy seeing the end result of each job we complete.

We had Justin refinish our entire lower level, about 900 sq ft. After getting 2 other quotes, Justin was the lowest so we went with him. He was able to squeeze us in the following week before our company came into town. He was very knowledgable on the proper products to use and he was able to fix our few water/pet spot with ease and kept the costs down. We were very happy with his work! It came out beautiful!!! When he was finished there wasn't anything to clean up, we couldn't have been more satisified. We highly recommend Justin for your hardwood flooring needs! Please feel free to contact me to discuss further if you need!

Hamilton Hardwood did an AMAZING job installing, staining and finishing the hardwood flooring in the lower level of our new home. Their pricing was in the middle of the other quotes I received, but when I compared the quality of products being used I could clearly see I was getting the best value with Hamilton Hardwood. They addressed my specific needs (issues with fumes/ dust and high traffic areas), they were professional, incredibly clean, and the end result was beyond our expectations. I highly recommend Hamilton Hardwood for you hardwood flooring needs.

Hardwood Floor Refinishing

I had two other contractors beside hamilton hardwood, although, one of them gave me more favorable price, we have opted to go with hamilton hardwood (justin and Danielle). We are very happy for the choice we made, you get what you pay for. They demonstrated to be trustworthy, very professional, and very competent contractor. They understood exactly what kind of hard floor we have, recommended a premium treatment material and showed great passion and skill in treating the sensitive brazilian cherry wood. They came in and finished the job on time as promised, showed lots of respect to our property, and delivered an excquisite piece of work at a reasonable price. Thanks a lot Justin and Danielle, we really love our new floor and looking forward in the future to finish our great room.

Hardwood Floor Refinishing

Justin did a "screening and recoating" job on our floor. He is very skilled and did an outstanding job. He customized the work according to our request. The floor looks better than we had anticipated. He went above and beyond by cleaning up the mess and left the place in a spotless condition. He worked fast and explained each step. Based on our experience we highly recommend Justin Hamilton from Hamilton Hardwood for projects of this nature.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

It's not complicated, really, it just varies depending on square footage and materials used. **Please note: At Hamilton Hardwood, we use the most premium materials available and that is reflective in the following estimates. If you are on a budget and prefer a lower-cost product line, you should know that your individual estimate would be less than stated below.** For our quality of work you can use the following as a BALLPARK AVERAGE, however we are always available for free in-home estimates for a more personalized quote; just give us a quick call at (248) 212-7893 to set up your appointment... Screen and Coats- around $1.00 per square foot (negotiable). This is a suitable service to accommodate for normal wear-and-tear for the first three years or so after an installation or refinishing of your floors. We basically buff a thin layer off the top and reapply a finish. If your floors are worn through the finish, we may recommend getting your floors refinished. Refinishing- around $3 per square foot (varies depending on finish used). This is for floors that are long overdue for a 'facelift.' Your floors are sanded down through the stain to expose untouched wood, then are stained to your preferences in the original color, or a new color stain, if you prefer, and are refinished. The end result is a beautiful floor that looks as new as the day it was laid! Installations- around $9 per square foot (varies depending on lumber choice and stain/finish preferences). Includes the lumber and its installation, as well as your choice in color of premium stain and premium finish. **Again, these are just averages to give you an idea of projected costs. For a personalized, hassle-free, obligation-free quote, call us today!**

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Take advantage of an in-home estimate and get to know the people you're hiring before you invite them to do work in your home. Establish a professional level of trust. Inquire as to whether they're doing the work themselves, or if they'll be subcontracting the work to another company. If they're subtracting the work, you should do your homework on the people actually doing the work, as they will be the people entering your home. Questions to your subcontractor may include: How long have you been in business with Company X? How often do you work with Company X? Does Company X have any available references? And so forth. If you are having an installation in your home, inquire about the quality of lumber being used, and from where it is being purchased. You should also inquire about the brand of stain and finish to be used in your home, and research the product. If the lumber, stain or finish can be purchased at your local home improvement store or hardware store, you will not have the same level of quality as you would from products purchased by your hired company from a specialized wholesaler. If you have high-traffic areas or pets, you should inquire about the product's durability. If you have allergies or are sensitive to fumes you should inquire as to whether the finish is oil-based or water-based (water-based finishes generally have lower VOCs and a quicker dry-time, but are trickier to apply and are much costlier). We recommend you get a few quotes and compare them. Compare the quality of products being used as well as the costs and determine the value you're getting from each company. If you're on a budget and prefer lower-cost products, that's ok, too! Just make sure it is reflective in the price of your estimates. Most importantly, if you have any questions, ask! Your hired professional should happily answer any questions you may have. You should ask if they foresee any potential issues and what the added costs may be. Bottom line, you and your hired professional should be 100% on the same page when it comes to your expectations of your desired end-result.
