- What types of customers have you worked with?
I have mediated case where abuse has occurred, and where the parties just needed help covering all the issues in a divorce. I have also mediated civil disputes involving contracts and estate settlement issues. About half of my work in this area is restoration work - a six session course that has been very successful in restoring marriages where both parties are willing to work at it.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't hire a therapist or counselor if you are looking for a mediator. Facilitating discussion is only part being an effective mediator. You will get far better service from someone who knows the legal system and also is competent in conflict resolution.
