FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been in marketing and advertising for over 20 years (gee, did I just say that?). While working full-time, I was always asked to do freelance for people who knew what I did. One thing lead to another and I kept having people say, "you should do this full time".
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
There are lots of people who are jumping into the social media and website due to the demand. However, I caution people to "Own" their online presence. For example, I had one customer who decided to work with me and when she told her current website provider, he had her web address and refused to give it to her. She now owns it, it is under her name and no one will ever take it again. I have another customer who was out doing trade shows and found out the sales person for the company she was working with left. Her website had been down for weeks and no back up. She contacted me through a referral and I had her up and running in no time. Another customer paid a company for a year to do social media with little results and misinformation posted. She was not an admin on the account so when she stopped, they took down her page and she was left with no fans, no history and no page. So, just make sure when you sign the dotted line, you ask what happens if your business changes. I have seen too many customers taken advantage of.
