About
IMPORTANT: Please note that I live in Minnesota. If you need an in-person tutor, you need to live within 30 miles of Hugo, MN. Outside of this range, I am ONLY available on Zoom. If you need a one-on-one tutor in your home out of this mileage range, I'm unable to help you.
I homeschooled my 6 children from kindergarten through 12th grade. Three of them completed college, one with a double honors major and one with straight As. I also have a daughter with autism, and I am COMPLETELY comfortable with disabilities. In the last 15 years I have tutored other children with autism, one with Tourette's Syndrome, one with ODD, one with dyscalculia, and several with other brain disorders. We are a family of science and math nerds, but I can probably help your child with any subject. I can do remote tutoring, but I prefer to work with students in person if possible. I am happy to wear a mask, NOT wear a mask, or adapt to any other requests parents have. Let me know how I can help you!

Today my son worked with Robin and absolutely loved her. She was so good with writing out and explaining each individual problem. Very helpful with all of the questions he asked to prepare for his final. I would highly recommend her. Will be using her again in the near future.

My daughter started working with Ms. Robin. She is amazing. She teaches in a way that my daughter can understand. Now every week my daughter looks forward working with her. We are very happy that we found Ms.Robin who is the best fit for our daughters math needs.

Robin has been a wonderful tutor to my daughter who has struggled greatly in Geometry this year. She works with her class plans and does a great job explaining material and answering questions. My daughter is improving and so much more confident in class. Would highly recommend!!

My daughter is a high school student that was struggling in math. Robin was able to connect with my daughter very quickly. My daughter’s math grade went from a C to a B+ in less that five sessions. Thank You Robin!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My hourly charge is pretty well set. I don't offer bulk discounts or anything lol. If you have two or more children you'd like me to work with, we can negotiate a bit on that, perhaps. But usually, working with two students for one hour means that each of them ends up with 30 minutes of attention, not 45-60. It doesn't save money for me to work with two at once. If your child is struggling, he or she needs focused help, not just another classroom experience.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I would love to see current schoolwork BEFORE I come, especially work that your child doesn't understand. I can wing it if necessary, but being well-prepared is better for everyone. Additionally, if the parent can get a few sentences from the teacher about where the comprehension gap is, that's even better. I realize not all teachers can make time for personal correspondence, but if the parent is able to forward some comments from the teacher to me a few days before we meet, that is an enormous help. Even with all that, though, it may take me two or three sessions to get to know your child well enough to get into a rhythm.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I don't have a math or teaching degree. I just have lots and lots of experience (35 years now), and I LOVE teaching. It's fine if you want to "test drive" me for a couple of weeks or so and see how you and your child feel. No hard feelings if you want to keep looking elsewhere.
