FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We are always upfront about our pricing before the job begins. We don't like financial surprises and don't expect you to either. The only exception to this is if a project or repair turns out to be easier or less involved than expected, then we are sometimes able to discount the agreed upon price.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We typically do an in home visit to assess your furniture for refinishing or your location and style for a custom piece depending on what you're looking for. Then we do the work back in our shop keeping all the dust and noise out of your home before delivering a final piece to you. Our delivery team prides itself on keeping both your furniture and your home clean and undamaged throughout the whole delivery process.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been doing woodworking since I was a small child. Working at my grandfather's side, I built tool boxes, home decor, and repaired all manner of household items since I was little. I got my first shop of my own, a twelve by twelve shed, when I was 21 and started building furniture for myself, friends, and family. Since then, I've done a lot of different things involving wood from refinishing wood floors and doing finish carpentry to building several homes. I was part of another company for 17 years before starting Up North Woodworking to try to focus on some of the more creative aspects of woodworking.
