What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It's very simple: $30 per hour plus material costs plus a shop fee for each job. Pick up and delivery is available for pieces that I am able to haul in my vehicle at an additional charge.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I educate and inform my customers on: the upholstery process, options on their particular job, the textile choices, unknown issues that may be encountered with their particular piece, and a range of cost.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My father started his upholstery business in 1964. I "grew up" with the upholstery trade during my teenage and young adult years, went to work for my father in 1980 and took over operation of the business in mid-1981. I have worked in the trade for over 30 years.
