FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am a Licensed Remote Notary out of Ohio. Ohio Law allows me to perform this Notarial Act for ANYONE (US Citizen or Not), so long as I (THE NOTARY) am physically within the boundaries of Ohio when doing so. THE SIGNER(S) can be located ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, and they do NOT HAVE TO BE TOGETHER! You can see more about this by searching Ohio Revised Code: 147.64 (1) A notary public may perform an online notarization by means of audio-video communication in compliance with this act and any other rules adopted by the secretary of state for any principal who is located within the territory of the United States. (2) A notary public may perform an online notarization for a principal located outside the territory of the United States only if both of the following conditions are met: (a) The act is not known by the notary public to be prohibited in the jurisdiction in which the principal is physically located at the time of the act. (b) The record meets any of the following: (i) Is part of, or pertains to, a matter that is to be filed with or is before a court, governmental entity, or other entity located in the territorial jurisdiction of the United States; (ii) Involves real or personal property located in the territorial jurisdiction of the United States; (iii) Is part of, or pertains to, a transaction substantially connected with the United States. In 2000, the Federal Government instituted this Act: E-Sign Act is a short name for the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act, a 2000 federal statute that establishes the legal equivalency of electronic contracts, electronic signatures, and other electronic records with their paper counterparts. It specifies that in the United States, the use of a digital signature is as legally valid as a traditional signature written in ink on paper. What is your typical process for working with a new customer? Clients must have: (for each person signing) a smartphone/tablet or pc (with camera and microphone), an individual email address, drivers license (must take a photo so physically in hand), a social security number (for identification purposes not provided to the notary), and your paperwork completed to the point of signing.
