Introduction: More than just a career, music is my passion in life. In performances I give my all, and I strive to do the same in teaching as well. My students learn how to express themselves while striving for technical perfection as well. Seeing a student succeed at even the smallest thing is a huge motivator for me. I always work to find new ways to teach a student if one thing doesn't quite help.

Lauren has taught all three of my sons in private lessons during high school, each on a different low brass instrument - Tuba, Trombone and now Baritone. They all have enjoyed their lessons and have noted significant improvement in technique and performance. As a parent I find Lauren very easy to work with - we schedule lessons and communicate via email. She has been very flexible scheduling during the summer months and consistent with lessons during the school year. Our family highly recommends Lauren Husting!

Lauren has been a fellow faculty member for several years, and I have had the privilege of working with her in various capacities. Her patience, kindness and teaching ability are only rivaled by her talents in playing (as well as arranging for) the low brass instruments. She is a wonderful teacher, and I couldn't recommend her enough!

Of the many brass musicians I know Lauren Husting is one of the most knowledgeable and gifted. She is compassionate and kind as a teacher and a truly great performer. I would work with her anywhere any time.

Lauren is a fantastic trombonist and overall musician. She is talented, kind, and smart. It has always been a pleasure to rehearse and perform with her. She is dedicated to her students and continually works to improve her teaching skills. I highly recommend Lauren as a trombonist and an educator!

I have worked with Lauren as an instructor a Girls' Rock! Camp. She is smart, kind, and very thoughtful in the way she works with students. She is extremely professional and has a lot of fun teaching. I would highly recommend her as an instructor.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I keep my own musical skills up to date through constant practice, lessons, and performance. I encourage my students to attend my performances whenever possible.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

When I applied to college I couldn't bear the thought of leaving the community of musicians behind. It wasn't until later, after graduation, that I realized I love the personal aspects of performance as well, and couldn't put my horn down.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Think about what you or your child needs from music lessons. Is it to foster a lifelong love of music and performing? Or to add another notch to the college application? I hope to teach that whether you choose music as a career or not, you can do it for fun, for yourself, and for the enjoyment of others.
