Steven was outstanding. He customized the menu to meet our catering needs. He was prompt, personable, and easy to work with. The food had great reviews from the guests and we will definitely using By Word of Mouth in the future! Highly recommendedMar 9, 2015Verified
Wedding and Event Catering
The food was delicious, delivered on time and set up for us! Steve returned the next day and retrieved all of the chafing dishes and serving tools he brought. All we had to do it set up the tables and put away the few leftovers, which some of us enjoyed for lunch the next day. We had an in-house Christmas party for the office hosting 40 people for hot hors d'oeuvres and festive beverages. I gave Steve a budget and my recommendations for preferences and quantities (heavy eaters) and we loved the buffet he recommended. The price was more than fair. The BBQ meatballs vanished. Beef and chicken kabobs were tender and cooked to perfection and larger than I expected; the grilled wings needed no sauce although 2 flavors were provided on the side; we had a large caesar salad and teryaki beef and chicken caesar mini wraps that were also delicious. At the last minute I added the hot crab and artichoke dip. We will use him again and I have already shared his menu and food list with others. Its worth it to pay the service fee for the delivery and set up and the use of his professional equipment. However, I would not hesitate to use him for a home party where you might have your own serving pieces and just need some great food.Dec 18, 2014Verified
I have had Steve take care of over 3 events for our church. Very helpful when you are not sure what you want. He is super at getting everything you need, like gluten free and has a great variety in food. Amazing salads and everything is so fresh! Even fresh made bread for the sandwiches we had. Hard to pick a favorite item but I think the chicken dinner was mine.Feb 6, 2015
One of the best professionals I have ever worked with. Not only is the food great every time, but the service is outstanding, deliveries timely, every detail accounted for and best of all...Steve works with you every step of the way to make sure you are at ease and everything goes as it should. We've used By Word of Mouth for corporate luncheons, employee parties, our annual Christmas party, and most recently an executive dinner featuring a 7course meal for international clients. I don't know where he gets his staff, but they are all exceptional and reflect Steve's very calm and in control demeanor, with a pleasantness that is well received by all our guests. Steve even pulled off a last minute job for 100 people for us with less than 2 days to prepare. Our "other" caterer over booked themselves leaving us high and dry. Looking back, I don't know why we didn't go with Steve in the first place. All of us here at the office would recommend Steve and his staff over and over.Feb 20, 2015
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? Our pricing is good for up to 30 days after it is quoted, after which it is subject to change to meet market demands and fluctuation. We are very competitive in our pricing...you may find specific areas a little higher, others a little lower. Regardless, we are transparent with all of our costs, how we set our pricing, and what is associated with them. We do not believe in passing on hidden costs. In the rare event in which something comes up that is beyond our control, we will work with you to find the right solution for everyone.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? All situations differ dependent on a multitude of factors, however the process will generally look like this: Upon first contact, we will ask a series of questions we feel are the most specific to your personal event. Such questions are sure to include date, time, number of guests, location, special needs, and general information to gain a base of your project. Once we have that base, a follow-up email with an overview will highlight what has been discussed, as well as outline any additional information needed or questions that may still need answers to. You will be asked to review the information, and to reply with any additional questions you may have. Once the basics are finalized, dates will be set for a deposit to be made, finalizing menus, and guest counts. Some events can be finalized in a couple emails or phone calls, others may need several and may even include additional sit down meetings to get everything just right. It really just depends on the scope of your needs. Don't worry though, we are there for you every step of the way. And please always remember...there are no silly questions or questions that are unimportant. This is meant to be a special day.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I'm constantly sourcing knowledge from any avenue available to me whether it be classes, online searches, on going schooling, or reading a new cookbook. I often joke that 32 years in the food service industry is more like 50 years in most other professions. After the 20 year mark, you are also given an honorary Associates Degree in psychology.
