Rev. Dr. Brent Shelton, D.D was very willing and excited to officiate my wedding. He responded quickly when I first contacted him and showed up on time to the wedding itself. During the vows he was very punctual and spoke clearly as well. I would definitely recommend him!!May 4, 2020Verified
Brent did an amazing job officiating our wedding! We both loved him! He come into our rehearsal took over and made everything go smoothly. He was ON TIME ;) He did a great job and made our ceremony feel very special to us, and even threw in a joke! I was suggest him to anyone looking for a great officiant! Thank you again!Jul 6, 2020Verified
Rev Shelton officiated our wedding and was amazing. He arrived early and was relaxed and very friendly. Fit right in with those attending the wedding. Highly recommend!Jun 23, 2020Verified
Brent was the perfect officiant for our wedding. He was great at organizing things and did research on the two of us to make for the most personal and touching ceremony we could hope for. Thank you so much Brent!Jun 21, 2017Verified
When we first met, he was very nice and that stands true, however, we were married on my husbands family farm and I wish he had reviewed what he was going to say during the ceremony prior to the day, but he assured me that we would like the service. Instead, he referred to us, our family, friends as hillbillies and rednecks and quite frankly offended myself, my husband and our guests and to top it off, after receiving our official marriage certificate, the date is wrong...our wedding date is officially recorded incorrectly. Despite his willingness to ask what we can do to fit the certificate, the rest is just unacceptable. He is a very nice man, but I am afraid I cannot recommend him.Jul 2, 2018VerifiedRev. Dr. Brent Shelton, D.D.'s reply
I am very sad to receive this kind of a review because it is the first of its kind since I began. The wrong date on the marriage license I can only admit to human error and I am deeply sorry. As for the ceremony, we talked, texted and e-mailed throughout the entire process. You specifically asked me to say, "you-uns" and "y'all" and other such terms and we spoke and even laughed about those characteristics because we all identified with that. In no way did I ever consider that it would be disrespectful or offensive because it was just as much about me as anything else. I am just so disappointed that it didn't live up to your expectations. I take great pride in what I do and from my heart I offer my deepest apologies for not doing that for you. I will certainly be more cautious in the future while receiving suggestions and information from the couples I serve. Thank you for your feedback and your honesty.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I do not have standard pricing but I am very flexible and affordable. My payment policy is to be paid at the time of services rendered and Cash or PayPal Only. (NOTE: I will only book your event with a job confirmation. This is based upon a first come, first served policy. There are too many leads on Thumbtack that never follow through when I could reserve those dates for more serious clients. Thank you!)
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? After the initial contact is made, I like to visit with them to find out what their needs are, what kind of a ceremony they wish to have and if there are any special accommodations that they need regarding their service. This applies to any service regardless of whether it is a wedding or a funeral as I want to work together with the couple or the family to tailor a service exactly to their needs.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have many years of experience not only as an Officiant but also as an event planner and there is no cut and dry method, each and every service is unique and different. My background in Sociology and Psychology allows me to extend a variety of methods to help bring a person back to a place of harmony regardless of whether they are seeking help as an individual or a couple. It is my firm resolve that even with my own personal religious background, I do not allow that to interfere with counseling purposes unless requested. I have a Doctor of Divinity Degree as of August 7, 2013.
