I hired this company at a listed amount. When he contacted me he said the price was $20 per hour higher, but agreed to accept the price listed. I needed molding installed. I provided the material needed for one location and he agreed to pick up the other materials for the other location. When he arrived he told me there was an 8 hour minimum. I said that’s not listed anywhere where on the Thumbtack site. And I said if you are going to have me pay you for 8 hours I expect additional things done to get my 8 hours of work. The guy took a deposit to go purchase the molding, Home Depot is less than 5 miles from my house. He was gone by over 3 hours. He returned stayed just over an hour and left for the day saying he would be be back at 9 am the next day. He arrived after 1pm. He finished putting the molding in, he left a piece of the wrong molding on in one area. On the contract of agreement of things to do, he didn’t do them. In fact he attempted to hang a shelf and it’s not even close to being in the correct direction as according to the diagram and directions he told me to read and install myself. Mrs. Stant I apologize that you feel that way but my company’s track record speaks for itself. That being said here are the facts for clients or future clients There was never a contract in place it was a booking and on my end it was accepted by you with my hourly rate. I also informed you that at that “$20” higher rate material would be included along with fuel charge for over 20mi. that I usually charge in which it was a total of 140mi both ways (x2 days) I still honored the rate you claimed, included material pick up and delivery. Picking up materials took extra time and fuel which was also not included because of the color you chose. Also shelving installs was NEVER expressed prior to my arrival to the job, neither was removal of any of the old trim or working in tight areas around furniture that was in the way and increased difficulty. I gave you the 8hrs+ 12pm-5pm(1st day) and 12pm-6:30pm(2nd) and never charged you for the extra hours or removal and disposal. I believe your exact words were “ That looks really good, it looks so much better” about the trim installed. I also have pictures if you would like to see them. Cancel culture is real but I take pride in my work and I don’t appreciate you spreading false information or trying to take advantage even more of my and my company’s generosity in trying to be as accommodating as possible. My pricing is based on general area rates but also depends on a few other factors. Special discounts are applicable as well. All factors are walked through with the clients prior to establishing a contract to hire.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Learning what exactly the customer wants to accomplish, getting my own eyes on the work site or area. Presenting a estimate or creating a timeline with a budget given. Signing paperwork and assigning a start date.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over 15 years of work experience in remodeling. Interior/Exterior. Former Construction Craftsman Journeyman Local 502 OSHA Certified
