Spoiler alert: Whether you have some issues or are just trying to live up to everything you think you are, or could be -- Kristen is the coach that you need in your corner. She's exceptional at listening, pinpointing issues, and not letting you get away with BS either. I'm a tech employee who felt she was looking for a therapeutic unicorn. Read to the bottom to see what crazy things I finished by the end of Kristen's Firestarter package! How I found her: I came to Thumbtack looking to quickly find someone to help me parse through some personal struggles. I'd just finished with a therapist (who frankly wasn't invested in helping me) and the thought of "shopping around" for someone who at least cared required more emotional energy and time than I had. Thumbtack took care of the "quickly" part, but after having brief intro conversations in the "therapist" section, I came to a grand realization. No knock to therapists or anyone who likes therapy, but those sessions only made me feel better because it solved one half of the problem. I could gripe with a confidant. However, after my therapy series matured, I kept getting more and more frustrated each time (instead of less) because we were stuck rehashing past until we finally worked to the present. By then, it felt like I was shelling out cash just to talk about my day without any real future / forward looking momentum, and that missing half was critical to me. That's where the idea to search for a "life coach" came in, but I couldn't tell who was a hack and who wasn't since life coaching is not entirely grounded in a universally recognized certifications. Kristen had the best and most relevant reviews so I checked out her website and found we had a couple of odd details in common that coincidentally had radical impact on some of my life perspectives. Living in Japan as a foreigner, etc. Our first session was a lot of getting to know each other and my interests and what goals would make my life feel fulfilled. Kristen listened well (I really respect that) and helped me ask better questions about what kinds of goals I wanted, how to take manageable steps to get there, and how to tackle the little demons that inevitably arise. Be prepared that she'll push you hard if she feels like you're skirting around an issue, but she's intelligent and intuitive enough to know where your limits are so that you don't leave each session feeling eviscerated. She's a coach, not a babysitter and she really wants you to go all in to achieve your goals. Each session ends with you giving her honest feedback about what she can do to improve. You'd be hard pressed not to leave the session with an inspirational glow and a feeling of real growth. :) We did weekly email check-ins at first to monitor my progress and set up accountability partners that weren't Kristen (my spouse, friends, etc.). We met up wherever I liked and I could see her as frequently or infrequently as I wanted, which was excellent as my goals have been project based. I'm glad to say that by the end of the Firestarter, I was able to program, design, animate, illustrate, market, monetize and publish two mobile games that are now for sale in worldwide marketplaces. Note that I couldn't even write a line of code / didn't know how to do any of these things before I met Kristen and I probably never would have had the confidence to try. ;) Also worth mentioning that since we worked on not only my dreams, but issues too, working with her improved other parts of my life. I'm making excellent, speedy process towards my macro level goals and I'm glad to have Kristen in my corner as the person who can help me see clarity no matter how unclear the future seems. Very excited to continue working with her. : D

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Sessions are $90-125 (sliding scale) for up to 90 minutes and include two folllow up emails or shorter phone calls of support between sessions.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Prior to meeting clients fill out intake forms that give me an overview of where they want to go with their sessions. When we meet I've got various tools at my disposal that can move the session along or it's possible that with attentive listening and specific questions we move the session forward. Clients always leave with action steps to get keep them moving their dreams forward! Afterwards I send notes outlining the session and offer two emails or shorter phone calls of support between sessions if needed.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a 120 Hour Master Life certificate from Seattle Life Coaching Training. Additionally I have a Master's In Teaching and studied journalism in my undergrad which all combines to being excellent at asking the right questions to move a person forward.
