FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I'm just launching my business, so for now, I'm offering an introductory rate of up to an hour of photographing time. After finishing the shoot, I spend a great deal of time editing my images utilizing my education, creativity and perfectionistic tendencies. I offer approximately 15-20 beautifully edited, high-quality images to my customers as well as a copyright release. I also offer the option to purchase prints from a high-quality lab which offers a myriad of beautiful papers for my cost plus 25%. As I gain experience and positive reputation, my rates will go up.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I would like to do a phone consultation with the client to learn what types of images they want to capture. I may ask some questions to clarify their goals. Sometimes I ask for simple phone photos of the clients I am going to work with so that i can plan the best poses for their unique features. I put a great deal of time into planning a shoot before it happens. I want to be as prepared as possible. The day we meet for a session, I require the first half of the money up front in cash or with credit card before I begin to set everything up. I will collect the rest of the funds when the images are delivered to the client.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have had an intense passion for all types of photography since I was 9 years old. I've worked in photo labs, photography studios doing anything from processing latent imagery to working as an assistant to the photographer. I was the main party/wedding photographer for a studio in my home state. I have professional photography education in my background as well as a wealth of experience. Mostly I just have the drive and JOY of loving what I do, and that seems to color the whole experience for my clients and me. I am constantly on a quest to learn more. and perfect my skills. I leave each photography session assessing what I did well, what I could have done better and trying to learn from the experience.
