FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My practice uses a tuition model. Parents pay automatically at the beginning of the month via Stripe. Tuition is $75/session, which involves preparation, instructional delivery, and after care. Typically, with biweekly sessions, there are at least 8 sessions/month which translates to $650/month. With triweekly sessions, there are at least 12 sessions/month. Tuition is $975/month. The first invoice is usually prorated and due before the first session. Comparatively speaking, my rates are very reasonable.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Every family is entitled to a free consultation. In this zoom conversation, we will discuss your concerns and my services. From there, if we determine that working together would be a good fit, you will complete the enrollment form on my website. I will then email you my "Welcome Guide". The first session will be our "Chat & Check" session, where we get to know one another and I will conduct some informal assessments. From this, I will develop a customized therapy plan and sessions will begin. From consultation to first session, it can take as little as week to get started.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified structured literacy dyslexia specialist (C-SLDS) by the International Dyslexia Association's certification body, the Center for Effective Reading Instruction. I was trained by Lexercise, an IDA-Plus accredited program. I have also completed training from Reading Simplified, a linguistic phonics program. I am a proud member of the IDA, CERI, The Reading League, Learning Ally, and the Orton Gillingham Academy. I am a lifelong learner. I am continually listening to literacy-based podcasts, attending webinars, and going to conferences. My main mentors are Anita Archer, Ph.D. and the late William Van Cleave. When they taught, they did so very explicitly with compassion and humor. My intention is to stay current with the reading science research so that I then can apply it in my tutoring. I'll never be done learning how to improve what I do. I also hold a Master's degree in Counseling & Human Services from the University of Colorado and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of North Dakota. Before working as a dyslexia specialist, I worked as a substitute teacher, youth mentorship coordinator, mental health therapist, and homeschool teacher.
