About
I teach in-home piano lessons that are playful, creative, and musical. I take a well-rounded approach to teaching a solid foundation in music literacy, often including scales, repertoire, theory, sight-reading, improvisation, and composition in lessons. I ask my students to challenge themselves and try new things and I offer performance opportunities with occasional recitals.
I grew to love teaching through instructing art and nature camps, and I have 10 years of private teaching experience. I hold two degrees in Music Education as well as a Kodály certification. I also perform regularly with groups such as the Colorado Wind Ensemble, William and the Romantics, and Mass Hipsteria. Getting to know my students and introducing them to new musical concepts is what inspires me.

Emily has been great in working with our 7 year old. We had no piano experience and she came in and created a fun environment for us and my daughter is learning quickly. I would definitely recommend Emily!

Emily has been teaching our youngest daughter piano and music for over a year. She is great with her, keeping the lessons fun and entertaining. Emily was our daughters music teacher in elementary school, we were excited to know that she was available to teach privately as well. Our daughter is so enthusiastic about her upcoming recital, and has been working hard to prepare her music.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge a flat, all inclusive monthly tuition. Tuition includes travel fees, all music and theory books, recital fees, music game library, special projects, and home subscription to the excellent practice app Piano Maestro ($10/month value).
Current rates are $280/month for 1 hour lessons or siblings back to back and $150/month for 30 minute lessons.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get a sense of the student's level and goals before the first lesson so that we can dive right in where they're at and start something new!

Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Ithaca College
Master of Music in Music Education from Colorado State University
Kodaly Certification from Colorado State University
