Introduction: I've been acting and teaching professionally for 25 years and have extensive training in the craft, and I’ve worked with actors at all levels and ages. Students of mine have gotten signed by licensed talent agencies in Los Angeles, New York and the Southeast and have gotten call backs and bookings for major film and television productions and or accepted to drama programs such as The Juilliard School, Carnegie Mellon, PACE, University of South Carolina, Indiana University, University of Essex both BFA and MFA programs. Within the first month of having our sessions I already saw growth in my acting. Matt is direct in his communication and has shared a lot of wisdom that I will continue to carry with me. I felt the most improvement in my physical movement thanks to him and I highly recommend everyone to reach out for some lessons.

Matt is an incredible teacher. I’ve observed his work for over 15 years and have witnessed the profound impact he has had on actors. From coaching monologues and auditions for theatre and film/tv, to guiding actors in discovering new depths in character development and scene study. I routinely invite Matt into my acting classes as guest lecturer, and my students always have transformational experiences working with him – often in just once class session! He brings his vast experience as a professional film/tv/stage actor into the classroom, and helps students achieve palpable results in their work. I can’t recommend Matt highly enough.

There are too many great qualities about Matt and the classes he offers, but I will try to sum up a few. First, Matt creates a work space that feels safe, connected, and clear. It allowed me to immerse myself in the work and focus on the task at hand. He stays in constant communication during the class to make everything clear and is excellent at helping to understand complex ideas or scenarios. The energy that Matt brings to class everyday is also contagious and positive. He truly checks in with every individual and sets a baseline for everyone that is conducive to breaking plateaus and reaching a new level in your journey as an artist. Matt is also highly trained and boasts a long, long list of real world experiences and roles in the acting/entertainment world. He knows his craft forward and backwards, and has a special way of relating it to others. If you are willing to invest in yourself and truly seek to better your craft, I cannot recommend anyone more highly than Matt Burke. It is the times that I’ve spent working with him that I’ve found my limits stretch and my confidence grows. I am a better actor and person because of him.

Matt is always available for incredibly detailed feedback on auditions and offers superb scene study lessons. He’s fantastic at keeping my teen daughter inspired by the work creatively but also challenging her to grow as an actor. It’s a great balance! I also appreciate that he’s a working actor and knows what is happening in the industry in real time.

Matt Burke is truly a gifted teacher, actor and human being. I don’t say that often about anyone. He has a gift, he can see into you as a student and intuitively knows how to teach you what you need to see about yourself to be better. He is genuine, kind, responsive and hardworking. I work on a sliding scale and offer a series of 5 or 10 sessions at a discounted rate.
