extremely satisfied with the outcome that I received for six forks music studio. He was on time and performed elegantly. would absolutely recommend!!Jul 1, 2020Verified
We decided to do an impromptu outdoor music event for our street. We found TJ through thumbtack. He responded immediately and agreed to come and play keyboard for a couple of hours with only 1 day notice. We landed on a low key contemporary vibe. It was so delightful and just loud enough that we could talk amongst ourselves and still enjoy the beautiful music. My neighbors were so appreciative. We will definitely have TJ out again.May 27, 2020Verified
We have been taking piano for several yrs and just switched to home lessons w TJ. He has an enthusiastic and engaging way of working with our kids while covering important music theory and allowing time to work on the songs they want to play. We are excited about learning from him!Sep 27, 2019
I had a fantastic first lesson with TJ. I hadn’t worked with an instructor since high school choir, so for the past 20 years I’ve just been singing on my own. Working with someone who clearly knows the tools and techniques to warm up properly immediately made a noticeable difference in my capability and my confidence. I’m looking forward to continued progress and growth from learning from him. I highly recommend Six Forks Music Studio.Sep 27, 2019
TJ is a phenomenal teacher. I started with absolutely zero knowledge in music theory or piano and he's taught me so much in only 4 piano lessons so far. He can be tough - but always in a very supportive and instructive way. To me, this is one of the biggest pros because it really provides value for the money and time spent. He shows he is invested in YOU as a student and makes sure every lesson is fulfilling. If you're looking for a music teacher who knows their stuff and also knows how to teach efficiently, TJ is the man to go to.Nov 25, 2019
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? All lessons are 30 or 60 minutes long, and are conducted on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Voice and/or Piano 30 minute lesson = $30 Voice and/or Piano 1 hour lesson = $60 4 non-makeup prepaid lessons = $5 off of original lesson price Recital Fee = $30 (includes piano accompanist and registration) I will travel to the student for an additional $10-$15 dependent on where the student is located. Student is solely responsible for sheet music and related materials. I ask that lessons payment be paid electronically (Paypal or Cash app) before lesson starts or with cash or check immediately after lesson.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?First, the student and I will sit down and discuss musical goals and interest to ensure that I can accommodate their specific requests. Soon after, I test the students' natural music abilities by taking them through a mini lesson. After that I discuss the most appropriate curriculum of study depending of the talent, time, expectations, and student interest. I can guarantee that these lessons are tailored to the individual student to ensure productive and effective musical growth.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have a BA in Music from Methodist University and currently finishing a K-12 educational license for the state of North Carolina. I've have been teaching private voice and piano for several years in different musical environments. I believe that education is vital not only for the student, but for me to also refine my musical skillset.
