FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I provide free estimates for labor and installation materials based on measurements taken during a site visit. I'm unable to provide an estimate without looking at the job in-person or reviewing blueprints. The purchase of tiles or stone by either myself or the client is discussed on a case by case basis. I charge for tile installation by the square foot and preparation tasks by the hour.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet in-person with a prospective client at the job site in order to see the space, discuss the client's goals for the project and to measure. I then prepare an estimate for the client. After the client accepts the estimate, then we move to scheduling the job at a mutually agreeable time. I have a standard service contract that I prepare and ask clients to review, sign prior to starting the job. After the agreement is signed, then I will purchase the materials and begin the job as scheduled. I provide an invoice after the completion of the job.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my training in Berlin, Germany through the internationally renowned German vocational apprenticeship system. This included technical studies and a three year apprenticeship. After thirteen years in the trade, I studied for and received a mastercraftsman certification through the German Trade Association. The master certification process required a year of full time study. I keep up to date on the latest innovations in the trade through continuing education in the U.S. and Germany.
