I am a translator and tutor and love to share my native tongue and culture with students of all ages and walks of life.
My tutoring experience dates back to 2010. I have been tutoring German in the United States from elementary to highschool and master’s levels utilizing online and in-person venues.
I am also translating a wide range of different sources from EN>DE and DE>EN.

About six months ago my teenager son decided he wishes to learn German. I used Thumbtack for that, narrowing it down to three tutors. We had a trial lesson with all three and my son chose Roland.
What an excellent choice! My son is looking forward to his weekly lessons, and gradually becomes more comfortable she fluent. Being a teenager, he brings not keeping me in the loop to a level of art, but Roland keeps me informed as to their progress.

I reached out to Roland with a rather unusual request. I did not need documents to be translated or a tutor to teach me how to speak German.
I needed an interpreter, to be on a phone conversation, I was going to have, with someone in Germany.
Although Roland, did find the request a bit odd, he was immediately on board. I sent him information and details of what my conversation would involve.
He took it upon himself to do some research, so that he was prepared for the conversation I would be having with the person from Germany.
He took control over the phone call conversation, and even followed up with an email, for information I needed to submit to the person in Germany.
He went above and beyond what my expectations were. He made himself available to my schedule. He's very well spoken.
If you need help from someone sincere and honest, and knowledgeable, Roland is the person you are looking for.

Pricing is ordinarily $40/hour however lower for longer term commitments (e.g. 2x per week, for 4 consecutive weeks). More options available.
Current students will get their rates honored without increases.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I break it down as follows:
1. Baseline assessment (establish status quo)
2. What are your goals / desired outcome?
3. Any prior experience with foreign languages?
4. Creation and presentation of the syllabus for approval
5. Defining logistics and schedule - discounts available for longterm engagements
6. Periodic testing to gauge progress
7. Grammar and spelling
8. Vocabulary tests
9. Reaching defined goal(s)

10 years of experience tutoring German - a lifetime of experience speaking it;
