Introduction: Pawsitive Puppy Dog Training was founded by me, Jan Gonzales, owner and head trainer in 2019. I am a graduate of Dog Trainer Foundations and the Puppy Start Right for Instructors courses from the prestigious “Karen Pryor Dog Training Academy.” The instruction I have received, combined with hands-on training experience, makes me an excellent, knowledgeable and compassionate dog trainer. I have training packages for puppies and dogs of all ages. All training takes place inside your home to keep distractions to a minimum.. At this time I do not offer Behavior Modification for severe behavior issues, group classes, remote training, or Board and Train. My training method is force-free, positive reinforcement as this creates better results and a stronger bond with your dog than using aversives which can break trust and induce fear. My business hours are M-F 10am-5pm. Jan is an absolute pleasure to work with. She is so patient and kind. My pup absolutely loved her as well. She’s been extremely helpful even after training was over, she was open to answering any questions or concerns I had for my puppy. If you’re looking to hire a good dog trainer then definitely go with Jan! She is extremely affordable, you will get the same respect and awesome training that you would get a high-end place for a fraction of the price. To Jan: Thank you for all your help with Dexter !! Jan is fantastic! At the start of my dog Ashford's training, he was biting, would not listen and jumping on everyone. After a 7 week training course, he has done a complete turnaround. Jan has helped us with turning a crazy puppy into a sweet dog. Jan was always professional and sweet. She was always punctual and worked with my busy schedule. This training with Jan was 110% worth it! I would recommend this training course to everyone with a puppy!

Jan has been very helpful as we train our puppy. She has provided us with detailed plans for each week that are specific to our dog. She has helped us to work on behaviors that are important to us and her training is all positive reinforcement, without punishment. Our dog loves her and so do we!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer 7 sessions with the first one FREE in order to introduce myself, explain my training methods, and gather information about the puppy and family. After introduction there will be a demo of methods and interaction with the puppy. This will allow you to get a feel for it and if you would like to continue with 6 more sessions.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first session will be free of charge. It will be part consult, part training/teaching. It will include getting information about the puppy and family members, Explaining my training methods, talking about goals and how to achieve them. Once training begins I will show the client how to get the behavior they want and then coach them how to do it. Every session will have home work to work on for the following week.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Most of my training is from long term experience of owning and training my own dogs in conformation, obedience, Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog, Agility and Rally since the early 1990's to present. In addition I am Karen Pryor Trained, Belong to several dog training groups, and am Dog and Cat First Aid & CPR Certified. As of January 2021 I am now an AKC Evaluator. I also Started professional dog walking/pet sitting in September 2019 and have done over 100 walks with all kinds of breeds and size dogs.
