Introduction: My name is Edren Bell and i am a saxophonist. I have my own equipment which includes three saxophones: soprano, alto, and tenor. (I do have availability for an accompanying band and vocalist.) Music and performing is my passion and I strive to be a respected musician and create beautiful music where one can remember how it made them feel or dance, or how it delivered them for tough times...so much so that i write music, teach music, sing, and have the following attributes:
22 years of experience playing, reading, and writing music
Perform on soprano, alto, and tenor saxophones, ewi/recoder, and vocals (background and lead)
Attended Riverside and hillside high school graduating in 2004
Studied and majored in jazz studies at North Carolina Central University: receiving Tutelage from musicians including: Ira Wiggins, PhD, John Tymas, and renowned jazz saxophonist Bradford Marsalis.
Attended UNC Greensboro Summer Music/Band camp (3 times) and received lessons from Randy Ingold, PhD.
Awarded the Senior Scholastic Music Award In 2004
Recipient of the Torian Graves Scholarship for Music In 2004
Former DurhamMinister of Music at Faith Community in , NC for 9 years: during my tenure I started and taught the One Sound Mass Choir, helped enhance the Adult Praise Team, currently teach choir and young adult praise team
Started band in high school named Renaissance that performed at events such as: Phoenixfest, Spirit of the Hayti Awards, The Black Nurses Association Scholarship Award Ceremonies, and a host of other engagements like community day, weddings.
Performed with #Epitome’ for events such as: Women’s Empowerment, Jacksonville Jamboree, and Ideas Coffee House
