Introduction: Your small business is a big deal. For over a decade, we've designed websites to help build small businesses and for entrepreneurs to even the playing field. This is where function leads over form, but form is still valued. Not only does a site have to work well, it should look good. We know small business because we are a small business. We work in opensource content management systems, such as Joomla and WordPress, HTML, HTML5 and Flash.

Outstanding company to work with- professional, timely, and very creative! They designed a website for my study team to enhance a research trial's subject recruitment. They were overwhelmingly attentive to our needs and timelines, and were very flexible working within stringent university guidelines to ensure this project would meet ethics board requirements and obtain approval. Highly recommend!

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Foremost, Walker Interactive designs web sites. That means we come up with a design and we build it. We also help you write your content, because if there is one thing we've learned over our decade in business, it is very hard to write about yourself! We also take a step back for those just hanging out their shingle and help develop logos and branding. And we can take care of print and graphic design needs as well: postcards, flyers, banner ads and more.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Even if you’ve worked with a web designer before, everyone has a different process. Here is a peek into ours. First, we get to know each other. We ask about your business, about your web site -- if you have one. And you ask about our business and who we’ve worked for in the past. Chances are, you’ll have seen our portfolio, but if not, I highly recommend you click through it. Then I pick your brain. I do this a couple ways. On the phone, via web or in person, I’ll ask a series of questions to create a more complete picture of what you’re hoping to accomplish. There is one question in our survey that a lot of people don’t know how to answer. And that is, please list sites that you like. This is such a simple question that it’s hard. The sites you like don’t have to be sites within your industry. You can like American Express or The Gap or Bank of America. You can like the site of a musician, an artist, a home builder. What that tells us is what resonates with you -- clean space? Bold color? Do you like navigation across the top or down the side? We then create a proposal. It’s not a marriage proposal, but it’s pretty detailed. But the one thing you won’t find on our proposal is a flat price. Because we don’t work that way. Web site design is a fluid process, and more often than not, things change during the design of one. So we provide an estimate that includes a range of hours, say 20 to 30 hours. That window of ten hours difference means that we have room to change the design should you need to. Or that if things go quickly, you save some money. So that’s our process. Any questions? Ask away!
