We needed to replace our water heater on an emergency basis, and Matthew from Anova Remodeling was able to come in and get us a new tankless system quickly (bringing the crew together even quicker than he had initially estimated). He took personal interest in our situation, and we were very pleased with the team he brought in to do the work.

Although we had lower bids from other contractors, we decided to hire Matt and Anova Remodeling for our kitchen renovation. We liked Matt and thought that he and his company were the right team for our job. We couldn’t have been more wrong. Our “4 to 6 week” kitchen renovation started on September 13, 2017 and took five months to finish. Matt talks a good game. He will tell you about his “team” and how they are “ready to go”, but right from the start it was obvious that he subcontracts the work to others and on several occasions, those subcontractors have never worked with him before (we went through two plumbers and two punch-list contractors). Case in point, the plumber that he initially sent had never worked with him prior to our job. He started his part of the project and left after two days, never to return. I had to ask Matt repeatedly what was going on as it was holding up other work. Days lead to weeks which lead to months. “4 to 6 weeks” came and went and we were still without a kitchen of any kind. We were unable to have guests for Thanksgiving as well as Christmas as we were living in a demolition site with a half-completed kitchen. The same pile of construction debris sat in our dining room for 4 months and only got removed when it was finally time to do the floors. I mentioned to Matt several times that we didn’t feel like a priority, to which he “assured” me we were, but work was still not being done. Matt made excuses over and over again, still blaming the plumber for setting the project back, but the fact is, Matt NEVER did anything to rectify the situation or speed the project along. He rarely if ever checks in on the work being done (but will always be there when it’s time to collect a check). More often than not, I was the one checking the work of the subcontractors and communicating directly with them about what was done, needed to be done, or fixed. We were told repeatedly by Matt and the flooring company that he subcontracted to that our wood floors could be matched instead of replaced (which still cost us $4000 to do). However, when the floors were put down, they did not match. When I complained to Matt he told us that it would cost an additional $2000 to fix. After much pushback on our part, the flooring company agreed to split the additional $2000 cost with us, but after months and months of setbacks, excuses and disappointment, we really felt like more SHOULD have been done to rectify this situation and why we were on the hook for THEIR incompetence is beyond us. I do appreciate the work done by Luke (cabinets), Mike (gas) and Jason (electric), but cannot recommend Matt or Anova Remodeling AT ALL. Our project was poorly managed and communication was abysmal from beginning to end (something Matt himself acknowledged MANY times but still seemed incapable or unwilling to resolve). Our experience was terrible and EXTREMELY disappointing, especially for what we spent on this renovation.
