FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We believe in transparent pricing and delivering real value from the moment we arrive. A $200 service fee covers travel time and fuel to and from your location. Labor is billed separately with a one‑hour minimum, so you know exactly what you’re paying for. For short service calls (under one hour), we go the extra mile by including a complimentary inspection of your electrical service or main panel—at no additional cost. This helps catch potential safety issues early and ensures you get more value from your visit. Typical service calls include: Troubleshooting tripped breakers or power loss Replacing outlets, switches, or light fixtures Diagnosing flickering lights or buzzing panels Evaluating electrical service capacity or panel concerns For projects lasting more than one day, the service fee is completely waived. As a thank you to those who serve our country and communities, we proudly offer a 10% discount to active‑duty U.S. military, veterans, and first responders. This discount applies to the entire bill—including service fees, labor, and materials, not just part of the work. Our goal is simple: clear pricing, no surprises, and professional service you can trust.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We’ve designed our process to be simple, transparent, and stress‑free from start to finish: Initial Contact & Details Once you reach out, we’ll respond promptly to discuss your electrical needs. We’ll ask a few key questions, review photos if available, and gather details so we arrive prepared. Upfront Pricing & Scheduling We’ll explain our pricing structure, service fees, and any applicable discounts before scheduling. You’ll receive a clear appointment window and know exactly what to expect—no surprises. On‑Site Evaluation When we arrive, we’ll assess the issue, confirm the scope of work, and answer any questions you have. For smaller service calls, we include a complimentary inspection of your electrical service or main panel to ensure safety and added value. Professional Work & Communication We complete the work efficiently, safely, and to code, keeping you informed throughout the process. If we uncover additional concerns or options, we’ll explain them clearly before proceeding. Final Walkthrough & Billing After the work is complete, we’ll review what was done, provide recommendations if needed, and go over the final invoice. Any eligible discounts—such as our 10% military and first responder discount applied to the entire bill—are clearly reflected. Follow‑Up & Support If you have questions after the job or need future electrical help, we’re just a call away. Our goal is to earn your trust and become your go‑to electrical & technical contractor.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I’ve been working hands‑on with mechanical, electronic, and electrical systems since middle school, starting as a small‑engine mechanic in my father’s business. I later completed trade school and field training as an HVACR technician, earning my North Carolina Refrigeration License, before serving six years in the U.S. Navy as an Electronic Technician. After my military service, I worked as an Engineering Technician at Samsung Austin Semiconductor and spent 13 years as a government contractor leading an electronic engineering program, combining leadership with hands‑on technical work. I founded OBXTRONIX in 2021 and serve as the Master Electrician, personally holding the Unlimited Electrical License for the company. I bring decades of experience to every job, with a strong focus on safety, code compliance, and reliable, long‑term solutions.
