I reached out to a few handyman and home repair businesses to see how much it would cost to make some repairs at my parent's home that I knew how to do myself, which was repairing the wood rot at the base of a door frame and brick molding. I was hoping that the cost would be relatively close enough for materials and a reasonable amount for the labor. Life is extremely busy for me, because I take care of my own house and take care of my parents as well, so if I could hire someone at a reasonable price, I wanted to. I knew how long the job would take, around what the materials should cost with no markup, and assumed that a professional would be able to get it done more quickly. I ended up leaving Kevin a voicemail and sent him an email, and then proceeded to call a few other places. After getting several mixed responses back from the other businesses either not being able to do the work or the work costing hundreds more than I thought was reasonable for the labor and especially for the materials needed, which had obviously been marked up significantly, I had honestly given up on hiring someone and started searching for the materials to go ahead and do the work myself. Then Kevin replied. Without saying much, I could tell he was very understanding of my parent's and my situation, was also very understanding of my proposition and the reason I was reaching out, and even more respectful of my time, as he did most of the work without ever meeting me or my parents until the day of the job. I didn't have to dive into a long story of why I was reaching out since I knew how to do the work, but he still understood that I was looking for quality work at a fair cost. He visited my parents house and did an appraisal, asked me very specifically what I did and didn't want done, wasn't turned off by the fact that I was going to do some of the touch up work such as painting, mounting a new screen door, etc. myself, and then sent me a quote with materials at cost, i.e. no markup, and a very fair amount for labor, literally $50 to $100+ an hour cheaper than other place. His quote was also estimating materials on the slightly higher side from what I knew, but still completely reasonable, and when I asked, he explained that he likes to round up and be wrong than to round down and upset his customers at the end of a job. I'm not one to try and bottom out a business on cost, I understand that they're professionals who're trying to make a profit. But there's reasonable profit and then there's absurd profit. What's more, I like to pay people a reasonable amount so that I can expect a good job done. If you buy dollar store toilet paper, you can probably expect some tears. Kevin showed up to my parents house on time, started at noon, had to stop to go get the brick molding, updated me when he discovered there was no rot in the framing of the house, and was still done by 3:30 PM - 4 PM. I examined the work, and it was superb. After a touch up on the paint and a new screen door, you'll never be able to tell there was any rot whatsoever, and the PVC material he used will help prevent this damage from occurring again. I would recommend Kevin to anyone looking to get a job done around the house, and I will certainly be calling him again when I need something done. He does great work, is easy to work with, and knows what he is doing. You can expect the repairs to be top professional quality.

Kevin helped us with removing our coffin style shower from the 70s and installing a new wider tile shower. His communication was great through the process, he anticipated any questions that we could potentially have and addressed them accordingly. He also walked us through the process of picking out the tile walls and floor as we had very little knowledge of the subject. His initial budget assessment for the job was on par for what the final bill came out to be. When comparing his pricing to the chain stores he definitely comes out on top. My wife and I currently work from home and he and his son were more than considerate if they heard us on calls. I would without a doubt hire Kevin for more work going forward.

Kevin and his son did a thorough job in recreating a custom cabinet for under our sink, a fairly complicated job. He took the time to ensure that the different working parts in and around the sink (electrical, plumbing) were properly up to code and safe. He came up with creative solutions to fit the space that is original to the 1970s. He was also open to shared decision making for the project, including plumbing, cabinet structure and wood type, that ultimately led to a cabinet to our liking. Kevin was also prompt with responding to my inquiry. He was further flexible with time for the project, starting it quickly given the necessity of the sink for daily life and taking the time needed to ensure the job was done to our liking.

Kevin did a great job at repairing my door frame that got wrecked during a burglary - and it's now the best functioning door in the whole house. No creaks, no gaps, slides shut perfectly, no force to turn the deadbolt or get it to latch. Door is super solid now. It was also immediately put to the test when they came back the week after and tried to kick it in again. No damage done, held great - the only problem is that they decided to break and go through my windows instead. :| (Had video this time and they have been arrested).He was upfront with all the communication, what was going to be done, and especially pricing. He cleaned up thoroughly and left the area way cleaner than when he arrived! He worked quietly until it was done, and then that was that. The whole repair came in WELL under what insurance quoted (only thing I didn't do from the quote was paint).Overall, he did a fantastic job. He took the time to make sure it was done right and not just 'fixed'. He took the janky door and fixed ALL of the things wrong with it without prompting. I then tried to get him to fix all the other repairs I needed done in the house, but sadly they were outside of what he worked on. I will definitely hire him again if it's something's relevant though.10/10 though, if you're lucky enough to have a problem that's on his list, get this man!I did ask for a suggestion for an electrician since that was most of the work I needed, and went through his recommendation - they were also great, so kudos! It was Dynamic Electrical Solutions Inc.

Fixify (Kevin) did an immaculate job patching, sanding, and repainting a portion of ceiling drywall that had to be cut out to repair a water leak.
