FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I try to keep it simple, and fair.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely, attended a Pete Ramey seminar in Gastonia this past summer, purchased and study Pete's textbook and videos, and talk to vets and explore veterinary websites and read peer-reviewed papers on various aspects of hoof care. I also try to learn something new every day from the horses I work with themselves...I find they are the best teachers of all.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It's in my blood I think...funny story: my grandpa ran a dairy farm in Upstate New York, and always preferred to use draft horses to machines. He raised five boys, of which my dad was the youngest. The day before I was born in March 1962, Dad and one of my uncles got the new farm tractor stuck in the mud a long way from the farmhouse and had to trudge back and tell their dad (my Grandpa of course) that they couldn't get it out. He just laughed quietly to himself as he went and hitched up his draft horse team and pulled that new tractor out of the mud. The next day I was born.
