What to expect when you hire me — step-by-step Hiring a musician should be easy and stress-free. Below is a friendly, clear walkthrough of the process so you’ll know exactly what to expect from first contact through the last note. If you prefer to remain 'hands off', I am happy to do all the planning with minimal input on your part, but if you wish a more involved role in the process, I am happy to oblige as well! Initial contact — You reach out with the event date, location, and type of event. — I’ll reply quickly to confirm availability and ask a few basic questions (time, venue, ceremony vs. cocktail vs. reception needs). Quick consultation — We’ll message about the mood you want, preferred genres (single style or a mix), important songs, and any special moments (processional, first dance, entrances, etc.). Timeline & logistics planning — We’ll agree on arrival time, performance times, and how long each set will be. — I’ll confirm setup needs (space, seating, a chair if needed, and whether amplified sound is required which I am able to provide). — Please tell me parking details, load-in location, and who my point of contact will be at the venue. Repertoire selection — You can either pick specific songs, choose from my suggested list, or give me a genre/mood and let me curate the set. — I’m happy to mix styles — e.g., classical for the ceremony, pop for cocktail hour, and a few upbeat pieces for the reception. Set list provided — I’ll provide a proposed set list and timeline for your approval well before the event. — You can tweak it — swap songs, add a request, or leave it as is for me to perform live-in-the-moment. Attire & presentation — Tell me the style or color you'd prefer (formal black, bridesmaid colors, themed attire, etc.). I’ll confirm what I’ll wear so it fits the event’s look. Final confirmation — About 1–2 weeks before the event I’ll send a final confirmation with arrival time, parking/load-in instructions, and the final set list. — If anything changes on your end (schedule, location, songs), just notify me and I’ll adapt. Day-of arrival & setup — I arrive early to set up, tune, and coordinate with the venue. — I’ll keep to the timeline we agreed on and stay flexible for small, reasonable changes. Performance — I perform the planned sets and listen for cues. Follow-up — After the event I’ll send a quick thank-you message. If you’re happy, a review or a referral is incredibly helpful — and I’ll always appreciate photos or videos you’d like to share.
