FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I believe that quality legal representation should be transparent, predictable, and accessible. Here's what you need to know about how I structure my fees: Flat Fee Pricing for Estate Planning For estate planning services — including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and comprehensive estate plans — I offer flat fee pricing. You will know exactly what your legal representation will cost before we begin. There are no hidden charges, no surprise invoices, and no watching the clock. What we agree to upfront is what you pay. Hourly Billing for Family Law & Divorce For family law matters — including divorce, child custody, child support, and spousal support — I bill on an hourly basis. Family law cases vary widely in complexity and duration, so hourly billing ensures you only pay for the time your case actually requires. I am always upfront about my hourly rate and will keep you informed throughout the process so there are never any surprises. High Value at a Fair Cost As a solo practitioner, I have lower overhead than large law firms, and I pass those savings directly on to my clients. You get experienced, focused legal counsel without the big firm price tag. Transparent from Day One During our initial consultation, I will discuss fees openly and honestly so you fully understand the cost of your matter before committing to anything. My goal is for you to feel confident and comfortable moving forward.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I believe that every client deserves to feel informed, supported, and confident from the very first conversation. Here's what you can expect when you work with me: 1. Initial Consultation We start with a conversation — either by phone or in person — where I take the time to truly listen to your situation. Whether you're looking to create an estate plan, navigate a divorce, or resolve a family law matter, I want to understand your goals, concerns, and priorities before anything else. 2. Education & Strategy Once I understand your needs, I walk you through your options clearly and honestly. I educate you about the process, your rights, your vulnerabilities, and what to realistically expect. There are no surprises with me — frankness and accountability are my hallmarks. 3. Flat Fee Agreement Before any work begins, we agree on a flat fee so you know exactly what your legal services will cost. No hidden charges, no billing surprises — just straightforward, transparent pricing. 4. Personalized Plan & Execution I get to work crafting a strategy or document plan tailored specifically to your family and circumstances. Whether that's a customized estate plan with wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, or a divorce strategy that protects your interests, everything is built around you. 5. Ongoing Communication Throughout the process, I remain accessible and responsive. You will always know the status of your matter, and I will always return your calls and emails promptly. 6. Resolution & Beyond My goal is not just to resolve your immediate legal need — it's to make sure you walk away feeling confident and protected for the future. Many of my clients return to me as their families and needs evolve over time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
With over 25 years of legal experience, I bring a depth of knowledge and practical expertise that only comes from decades of dedicated practice in estate planning and family law. Bar Admissions I am a licensed attorney admitted to practice in three states: Virginia North Carolina Maryland This multi-state licensure allows me to serve clients across a broad geographic area and handle matters that may cross state lines — something particularly valuable for clients with assets in multiple states, military families, and those who have recently relocated. Complex Estate Planning Expertise I have guided countless families through sophisticated estate planning matters, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney. I understand that protecting a family's legacy requires both technical legal knowledge and a deep understanding of each client's unique circumstances and wishes. I make sure nothing is overlooked — including issues clients may not have even considered yet. Extensive Courtroom & Litigation Experience Over my 25+ year career I have handled cases across the full spectrum of complexity — from straightforward uncontested divorces to highly contested, high-stakes family law litigation. I know what it takes to fight for my clients when a case gets difficult, and I bring that courtroom experience and strategic thinking to every matter I take on. A Career Built on Estate Planning & Family Law My entire career has been devoted exclusively to the legal issues that affect families. That focused commitment means my knowledge is deep, current, and directly relevant to your needs.
